Implementing the construction of modern industrial clusters is one of the "eight projects" in the Binhai New Area. One important aspect is to build several billion level industrial clusters around the three sub chains of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and biological manufacturing within five years, including biopharmaceuticals, chemicals, medical devices, and modern Chinese medicine, ultimately forming a billion level biopharmaceutical industrial cluster.

During the research and interview, the reporter came to the "Cell Valley" located in the high-tech zone, where more than 40 related enterprises have gathered with operating revenue exceeding 5 billion yuan. The Cell Ecology Haihe Laboratory is also built here and will be put into use in May. With the goal of building a biopharmaceutical industry cluster worth billions around the "Cell Valley", the laboratory is recruiting talents globally, gathering more talents and innovative achievements for the "Cell Valley", and driving more high-quality enterprises to settle through the transformation of achievements. Focusing on five research directions, including cell ecology and immunity, cell ecology imbalance, and major diseases, this year the laboratory will form 30 research teams, and 8 experts have been confirmed to join.

Young scientist Wang Hong is one of them. After graduating from the University of Tennessee in the United States, he worked at an international pediatric oncology institute for seven to eight years and holds multiple global patents. This time, he will lead the establishment of a cutting-edge proteomics center to tackle new cell therapy technologies.

At present, the Binhai High tech Zone combines the research topics of these experts to sort out the patents and achievements that can be converted and accurately recommend them to relevant enterprises. Tianjiu Company, a leading enterprise in the regenerative medicine industry, has taken a fancy to the scientific research achievements of Wang Hong's team. It plans to transform and apply them to develop a cell product related to diabetes treatment, and plans to invest 50 million yuan to establish a biotechnology company in Binhai High tech Zone. After the transformation and production, it is estimated that the annual output value can exceed 500 million yuan.

The Cell Ecology Haihe Laboratory also gathers some potential start-up teams to provide them with experimental platforms, product small and medium-sized trials, clinical research and other services, and cultivate a group of "seed" enterprises for the biopharmaceutical industry. At present, the laboratory is being screened from the entrepreneurial teams of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and the Institute of Hematology, and 15 teams have reached the intention to enter after the laboratory is put into use.
